Q. Is there a limit to the length of time I can be overseas?
A. Yes. Generally speaking, 12 months is the time limit for travel insurance.
Q. Do medical costs vary around the world?
A. Yes. For that reason various plans are available. Medical costs are particularly high in the USA, Canada, Japan, Africa, Antarctica and some parts of Europe.
Q. Does my Australian Health Insurance cover me overseas?
A. Generally speaking, there is some cover under your Australian Health Insurance, but it is normally limited to the amount the service would cost in Australia. Please check with your health insurance company.
Q. I am over 75 years of age, can I get cover?
A. Yes, but you will be required to complete a special health form before the insurance company will consider your application.
Q. I have recently had a health problem, can I still get cover?
A. Yes, but you will have to complete a special health form before the insurance company will consider your application. The insurance company may issue travel insurance to you with an exclusion on your pre-existing condition.
Q. I am travelling with my de facto. Do we have to take two separate policies ?
A. No, but your de facto partner must be specified by name on the application.
Q. Our children travelling with us are age 15 and 22, can they both be covered under the family policy?
A. Yes. Children up to the age of 25 years old are covered under the policy as long as they are fiancially dependant upon you.
Q. Is there an excess on the policy?
A. Yes. The excess will be stated on the certificate of insurance. Some sections have no excess.
